How To Save Your Marriage After An Affair
Trying to save a marriage after an affair is one of the most hardest things to overcome. Not only does the couple have to rebuild the trust, but also fix what ever cause the affair in the first place. Such as lack of communication, no romance or intimacy etc. But it can be done, with some guidance.
Once an affair happens, or when you find out, separate yourself from that person. Whether that is you or them moving to a friends or families house, it doesn’t matter, just do it. What this does, it allows you to calm your emotions. Right now they will be all over the place, running wild. And there will be all types of emotions as well, you won’t be able to think straight. And if you see your spouse every day, most likely it will take a lot longer for you to be able to think clearly and make rational decisions.
Stay away between 2-3 weeks if that is what it takes, but no longer than a month. and during this time you don’t want to stop communication, try and talk to them every couple of days or so.
You at first may experience anger and frustration, and then it may go to sadness and pain. You may feel guilt as if you had done something wrong for this to happen. The amount of stress your body will be in is something to take care of on it’s own, another reason why to temporarily separate yourself from your spouse.
Once you are able to settle your emotions, try and understand why this has happened, was it lack of communication, sex, romance, fun etc. And see if you can ever trust this person again, time may only tell that one. But if you still love them, and want to stay married that is ok and you can give it your best shot. If your spouse wants to stay in the marriage you both will increase the chance that you will overcome this and still have a successful marriage. But this is a hard one, even for the long term. And if your spouse truly wants to save this marriage, they should be on their knees, and begging for you to stay.
Follow this guidance, and you will be well on your way to success, and don’t hesitate to buy different programs, books and maybe even marriage counseling to help you through this!
